A new five-star hotel featuring a glass facade will be built in Sibiu following a \u20ac3.5 million investment. The hotel will offer 30 rooms, a restaurant, a commercial space on the ground floor, and a spa in the basement.<\/p>\n
The Sibiu Local Council approved the urban planning documentation for the demolition and reconstruction of the buildings on the hotel’s site as far back as 2016.<\/p>\n
A building with a basement, ground floor, two floors, and an attic can be constructed where buildings with only a basement and ground floor previously stood. The old buildings were partially demolished, while the ground-floor facades were preserved.<\/p>\n
The vaulted spaces in the basement must also be maintained to comply with the requirements of the culture commission.<\/p>\n
The land area covers nearly 500 sqm, and a pedestrian passage will be developed nearby, connecting Tribunei and Ioan Lupas streets.<\/p>\n
The new building represents a premiere, as modern elements will highlight Sibiu’s old buildings, similar to what is seen in other cities with historical monuments or UNESCO centers in Europe.<\/p>\n
The facades, made of silk-screened glass combined with perforated metal, will be installed above the ground floor level. According to regulations for new buildings constructed adjacent to old structures, alignment with the heights on both sides will be achieved through a modern intervention.<\/p>\n
The buildings that were demolished were not classified as historical monuments, and the project received a positive vote from the national architecture commission.<\/p>\n
The building is expected to be completed by the end of 2022 and could become operational next year. The hotel’s investor, Bogdan Nicolae, also contributed to the development of Art Hotel.<\/p>\n
