Check-in Modernization Begins at Otopeni Airport<\/p>\n
The Bucharest National Airports Company has begun modernizing the hold baggage processing system on the departures flow at Otopeni Airport, as the current equipment is nearly 20 years old. In September, work also began on replacing the baggage belts in the arrivals area at Otopeni.<\/p>\n
The 21 million EUR investment will ensure a 40% increase in baggage processing capacity at Henri Coand\u0103 Airport. The works will last 2 years and will ensure the replacement of the hold baggage processing system in the old Departures terminal.<\/p>\n
The system in operation includes the check-in area, baggage carousels, and related conveyor belts, as well as the automatic security control equipment for hold baggage. During the works, one of the two check-in zones in the terminal, each having 52 counters, will be closed in turn. The other two zones, in the new area of the terminal, will operate at maximum capacity.<\/p>\n
Due to this work, passengers are recommended to arrive at the airport 3 hours before the scheduled flight time.<\/p>\n
