There were 36 5-star hotels (2 more than on July 31, 2020).<\/p>\n<p>Of the total number of places in hotels, 44.3% were in 3-star hotels, 31.5% were in 4-star hotels, 18.9% in 2-star hotels, 3.9% in 5-star hotels, 1.3% in 1-star hotels, and 0.1% in hotels not classified by stars.<\/p>\n<p>As of July 31, 2021, 89 tourist reception structures with accommodation functions were unclassified by stars (compared to 104 on the same date last year), most of them being student and preschooler camps (55.1% of the total in 2021), and of the 1,606 hotels in operation on July 31, 2021, 3 hotels (with a total of 338 places) were not classified by stars.<\/p>\n<p>Of the tourist reception structures with accommodation functions, 27.2% were in &#8220;mountain resorts,&#8221; 16.9% in &#8220;Bucharest and county seat cities (excluding Tulcea),&#8221; 8.4% in &#8220;seaside resorts (excluding Constan\u021ba),&#8221; 6.9% in &#8220;spa resorts,&#8221; 5.8% in the &#8220;Danube Delta (including Tulcea),&#8221; and 34.8% were in &#8220;other localities and tourist routes.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The top seven counties, ranked by the total number of existing tourist reception structures, were: Bra\u0219ov (901 accommodation structures), Constan\u021ba (853), Tulcea (587), Suceava (524), Harghita (401), Maramure\u0219 (392), Cluj (377), Mure\u0219 (350), and Sibiu (342). Constan\u021ba County held the largest share (24.5%) of the total rooms existing in tourist reception structures (excluding rooms in bungalows).<\/p>\n<p>Of the total number of existing tourist accommodation places, Constan\u021ba County held 24.4%, Bra\u0219ov County 7.9%, followed by Bucharest with 6.2%, Bihor County with 3.9%, Suceava County with 3.7%, Cluj County with 3.4%, V\u00e2lcea County with 3.3% and Prahova, Mure\u0219, and Sibiu counties (each with 3.1%).<\/p>\n<p>Of the total 166,400 rooms existing in tourist reception structures with accommodation functions as of July 31, 2021 (excluding rooms in bungalows), 99,700 (59.9%) were in hotels. In 2021 compared to 2020, the number of reported rooms increased by 1,587 in agrotourism guesthouses, 1,296 in hotels, and by 88 each in tourist villas and tourist guesthouses.<\/p>\n<p>The number of tourist accommodation places existing on July 31, 2021, was 364,500. Most places, 200,300, were in hotels, followed by agrotourism guesthouses with 55,800 places, tourist guesthouses with 35,400 places, tourist villas with 17,300 places, and hostels with 14,200 places.<\/p>\n<p>According to the operating mode of tourist reception structures with accommodation functions, 76.2% of total rooms were in permanent tourist reception structures.<\/p>\n<p>Rooms with a bath or shower represented 96.8% of total rooms (excluding rooms in bungalows).
