{"id":116547,"date":"2022-11-02T18:03:38","date_gmt":"2022-11-02T16:03:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/rhn.ro\/sarmizegetusa-dacian-fortress-included-in-unesco-heritage-restoration-project\/"},"modified":"2026-03-06T21:22:16","modified_gmt":"2026-03-06T19:22:16","slug":"sarmizegetusa-dacian-fortress-included-in-unesco-heritage-restoration-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rhn.ro\/en\/sarmizegetusa-dacian-fortress-included-in-unesco-heritage-restoration-project\/","title":{"rendered":"Sarmizegetusa Dacian Fortress Included in UNESCO Heritage Restoration Project"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Minister Marcel Bolo\u0219 and the President of the Hunedoara County Council, Lauren\u021biu Nistor, signed three contracts on Wednesday at the headquarters of the Ministry of Investment and European Projects, totaling 7.41 million EUR, for the restoration of cultural-historical heritage sites at Sarmizegetusa Regia.<\/p>\n<p>The projects funded through the &#8220;Attractive Romania&#8221; Program are included in two of the 12 cultural routes promoted through Component 11 \u2013 Tourism and Culture of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan: the Roman forts route and the fortresses route.<\/p>\n<p>The investments include both restoration works and the creation of new exhibition spaces and site enhancement.<\/p>\n<p>At the entrance to the Ulpia Traiana Sarmizegetusa archaeological site, an objective included in the Roman forts route, a modern and minimally invasive site museum will be established, which will also feature a viewpoint over the site and the nearby Roman amphitheater.<\/p>\n<p>Inside the museum, one of the two marble fountains will be reconstructed, featuring unique sculptural elements in Dacia that were part of the monumental entrance to the Roman forum. Also here, the most important archaeological discoveries from the first city of Roman Dacia will be displayed in an interactive manner. The value of the contract signed for this objective is 2.56 million EUR.<\/p>\n<p>Through an extensive endeavor, one of the most important buildings of Dacian antiquity, the temple on the 10th terrace at Sarmizegetusa Regia, will be conserved and restored.
