Mohammad Murad: Interest in the Capital’s Center is Growing<\/p>\n
Businessman Mohammad Murad, one of the country’s largest hotel owners, who controls hotel units in the Capital as well as on the Romanian coast, says he sees a strong recovery in demand for accommodation in Bucharest, especially in the last three months, when the average occupancy rate was 75%.<\/p>\n
The four-star Lido Hotel on Gheorghe Magheru Boulevard, an iconic building of the Capital, was reopened in 2019 after a 5 million EUR investment.<\/p>\n
Mohammad Murad leased the Lido Hotel in the Capital for 15 years from the Angelescu family, the descendants of doctor and former Minister of Education Constantin Angelescu, and put it through an extensive modernization process. The building became state property in 1950 and later came into the possession of the P\u0103unescu brothers.<\/p>\n
In 2007, the High Court of Cassation and Justice decided that the hotel should return to the ownership of the heirs of Dr. Constantin Angelescu.<\/p>\n
Businessman Mohammad Murad also controls the Phoenicia Grand Hotel, Phoenicia Express, and Phoenicia Comfort hotels in the Capital.<\/p>\n
Murad also controls the Perla Majestic, Majestic Olimp, and Majestic Jupiter hotels on the coast, along with the Phoenicia Holiday Resort hotel complex in Mamaia-N\u0103vodari, as well as Phoenicia Luxury, opened in 2013. Here, he also built a new five-star hotel, Phoenicia Royal.<\/p>\n
In 2016, Murad bought the Belvedere, Amfiteatru, and Panoramic hotel complex in Neptun Olimp from Josef Goschy, the owner of the Unita Turism chain, in a transaction estimated at 10 million EUR. Murad and his family also own businesses in real estate and food, including the canned food producer Mandy Foods and the Springtime restaurant chain.<\/p>\n
