Bac\u0103u entrepreneur Ovidiu Budeanu has signed a franchise agreement with the French hotel group Accor to open a 4-star Mercure hotel, an investment of approximately EUR 7 million, located next to the Arena Mall Bac\u0103u expansion.<\/p>\n
The Mercure hotel in Bac\u0103u will feature 80 rooms, an \u00e0 la carte restaurant, an outdoor terrace, a bar, a 775 sqm ballroom, 3 separate meeting rooms including a foyer, and a rooftop lounge with lake views for small private and corporate events.<\/p>\n
Accor operates 7 other Mercure hotels in Romania, in Bucharest, Gala\u021bi, Sibiu, Timi\u0219oara, Media\u0219, and Sighi\u0219oara, and is preparing to open 3 more over the next two years in Sibiu, Bra\u0219ov, and Por\u021bile de Fier. The Accor Group has over 5,300 hotels and 10,000 restaurants and bars across 110 countries.<\/p>\n
The investment in Bac\u0103u is currently in the technical documentation stage for obtaining the building permit, which is expected in about 5-6 months. At that point, the contractor SSAB from Bac\u0103u will begin the expansion of Arena Mall, the construction of the hotel, and a residential complex with approximately 300 apartments. The inauguration of the shopping center expansion is scheduled for November 30, 2024, and the hotel for May 1, 2025, at the latest.<\/p>\n
In 2021, Arena Mall recorded a turnover of approximately EUR 6.6 million, a 38.7% increase compared to the previous year, and a net profit of approximately EUR 1.8 million.<\/p>\n
The company operating Arena Mall was owned in equal parts by Bogdan and Iana Budeanu, the entrepreneur’s children. Ovidiu Budeanu entered the company with a stake of approximately 2% to lead the board of directors.<\/p>\n
