Avram Iancu International Airport has completed the construction of a new aircraft taxiway following an investment of EUR 17 million, of which approximately EUR 5.5 million came from the European Regional Development Fund through the Large Infrastructure Operational Programme 2014-2020.<\/p>\n
The project’s objective was to build a new taxiway at Cluj International Airport, given the upward trend in passenger traffic, the development of the route network, and the increase in the number of aircraft movements.<\/p>\n
The new taxiway will provide the necessary infrastructure to operate a larger number of aircraft under increased safety and security conditions, both for passengers and for the aircraft operating at Cluj Airport. At the same time, the new taxiway parallel to the runway will result in the optimization of specific ground operations.<\/p>\n
The project was executed in two stages, and the implementation period for the entire project, according to the financing contract signed with the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, is between 01.11.2017 and 31.12.2023; however, the project objectives were achieved before the final deadline.<\/p>\n
