More than half of Romanians, 57%, will allocate larger budgets for holidays abroad this year, while one in three tourists traveling exclusively within Romania plans for smaller budgets, according to a survey conducted by the Association for the Promotion of Insurance (APPA).<\/p>\n
Four out of ten tourists plan to spend no more than 1,000 EUR on holidays abroad. In this context, among respondents who stated they would travel abroad for tourism in 2024, 42% will dedicate a budget between 1,000 and 2,500 EUR, while another 40% will spend under 1,000 EUR. Only 18% of Romanians plan to spend more than 2,500 EUR on international travel this year.<\/p>\n
A third, 33%, of those surveyed will go on a single long-term trip of at least one week, another 11% on several longer trips, and 54% are considering city breaks. On the other hand, 21% of the total interviewed aim for one longer trip and several shorter trips, 16% desire multiple short city-break type trips, and 13% plan a single short city-break trip.<\/p>\n
Additionally, for 73% of respondents, the main targeted destinations are primarily those in Europe, in nearby countries with short flights of a maximum of three hours, while another 16% also target Europe but more distant countries with flights over three hours.<\/p>\n
In view of a holiday spent abroad, 68% of Romanians state they will choose to take out travel insurance.<\/p>\n
According to the specialized survey, among respondents who stated they will travel abroad this year, 86% also plan holidays spent in Romania, 48% target at least one trip, and 32% definitely multiple trips.<\/p>\n
At the same time, holidays spent in Romania are also sought after by people who will not travel outside Romania this year. Thus, among the respondents who will not go abroad for tourism in 2024, representing 21% of the total, 62% confirmed they will travel within the country instead, with 44% having at least one such trip planned.<\/p>\n
Overall, more than half of those surveyed, 52%, say they will have a similar budget this year as in 2023 for domestic tourist trips, but 30% state the budget will be smaller\u201419% relatively smaller, 11% significantly smaller than in the previous year.<\/p>\n
The survey was conducted online by APPA between January 11 and 25, 2024, on a sample of 2,610 respondents, of whom 54% were women and 46% men, the majority aged between 26 and 55, representing 78% of all participants.<\/p>\n
