The measure was presented in Eforie Nord by Alin Grigore, Director General of the General Directorate of Tourism, and aims to bring Romania in line with European standards, making the presence of accommodation units on the profile platforms subject to the possession of this identifier. <\/p>\n<p>According to the MEDAT official, the new system will transpose the requirements of the European regulation, which obliges member states to realize a digital single point. It will allow booking platforms to download centralized data, thus facilitating communication and market transparency. Alongside the new identification rigors, the ministry also aims to simplify bureaucratic procedures for tourist rentals. At present, apartments and rooms have to go through the same authorization stages as hotels or guesthouses, a process considered cumbersome for small operators.   <\/p>\n<p>On the compliance segment, MEDAT&#8217;s Control Directorate carries out field checks, acting either by self-reporting or following complaints received from citizens. These measures are part of a broader plan to prepare for the summer season, launched in February in partnership with the Federation of Romanian Tourism Employers (FPTR), under the initiative &#8220;Year of Quality in Tourism&#8221;.
