[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””]Drago\u0219 Petrescu, owner of the City Grill group, has completed the acquisition of the historic buildings in the center of the capital where the Gambrinus Brewery and the Monte Carlo restaurant used to operate, marking a shift in strategy whereby the group invests directly in real estate assets to secure its key locations. This move is coupled with a reorientation of hospitality concepts towards Generation Z and Y, a demographic segment that allocates significant resources to going out and which the group is keen to attract in greater proportion. <\/p>\n

The acquisition of the former Gambrinus Brewery, located on Ion Brezoianu Street – adjacent to the DeSoi restaurant at the intersection with Queen Elisabeth Boulevard – aims to launch a new concept, which will keep the historical imprint but not the original name. Petrescu emphasized that the goal is to create a “cool” and attractive space for young people. A similar strategy has been applied to the former Monte Carlo restaurant in Ci\u0219migiu Park, which will be acquired and temporarily operated in 2025 under the pop-up brand “N\/A – Not Available”, and will be inaugurated in 2026 under a permanent concept. These real estate investments are part of a mixed strategy of the group, which also includes operating in leased spaces, as well as expanding the portfolio through acquisitions of established brands in the young segment, such as the acquisition of the majority stake of the Cluj chain Marty in 2024. <\/p>\n

For the year 2026, City Grill has allocated an investment budget of EUR 7 million, which also includes the completion of the renovation of the Cerbul Carpatin restaurant in Brasov, a project that started recently after obtaining the authorization last December. Due to the difficult economic context marked by inflation, the entrepreneur has adopted a cautious attitude, putting on hold the development of a food hall in Bucharest and two hotel projects in the Caru’ cu Bere and Hanu lui Manuc areas. <\/p>\n

The City Grill Group ended 2025 with revenues of around \u20ac90m, showing a nominal increase of 6.5-7% on the previous year, but below the rate of inflation, indicating a decline in real terms. Although the number of customers remained constant, the value of the average voucher corrected. For the current year, Drago\u0219 Petrescu forecasts a 7-10% increase in sales, betting on inflation of around 6%, which would allow a return to real growth, also supported by the influx of tourists from the big cities.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
