While the airline operator AnimaWings confirms the launch of new direct routes from Iasi Airport for summer 2026, the Cluj county administration is preparing a subsidy package to attract new flights and continue massive investments in the infrastructure of &#8220;Avram Iancu&#8221; International Airport. <\/p>\n<p>At Iasi, the partnership between the airport and AnimaWings will introduce four new destinations, covering the city break and beach vacation segments. The operating schedule for summer 2026 includes flights to Istanbul (Turkey), available on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from April 1 to October 23. There will also be seasonal flights to Heraklion (Crete) every Tuesday (June 2 &#8211; September 29), to Thessaloniki on Saturdays (June 6 &#8211; September 26), and to Palma de Mallorca (Spain) on Sundays (June 7 &#8211; September 27).  <\/p>\n<p>Simultaneously, in Cluj-Napoca, the County Council proposes to use the existing legal framework to subsidize the launch of new air routes, with the priority being to connect with European capitals where there are no direct flights or where the frequency is low, such as Budapest and Vienna. President of Cluj County Council, Alin Ti\u0219e, emphasized that this measure is part of a broad strategy aimed at reaching 10 million passengers by 2045. <\/p>\n<p>In terms of investment, the Cluj authorities have outlined a series of major airport infrastructure projects, with a total value in excess of EUR 333 million. Among the priorities are the expansion of passenger terminals, the construction of a new cargo terminal, the completion of runway works and the diversion of the Some\u0219 river.
