The project, which is considered strategic for the economic development of the Oltenia region, was financed mainly from European funds through the 2014-2020 Large Infrastructure Operational Program and is designed to serve the traffic needs for the next 20-25 years. <\/p>\n<p>The inauguration event, scheduled for 10:00 am at the airport&#8217;s headquarters in Calea Bucure\u0219ti 325A, will bring together about 500 guests, including officials, aviation specialists and institutional partners. The total value of the project has been supported by a mixed financing, including European funds, contributions from the state budget, the Dolj County Council and the airport&#8217;s own sources. According to Cosmin Vasile, President of Dolj County Council, this is the most important project of the county administration.  <\/p>\n<p>The new infrastructure includes a terminal with an area of about 32,000 square meters, structured on several levels. It has check-in areas, self-check-in counters, separate flows for Schengen and non-Schengen passengers, shopping and eating areas. In addition to the main building, the project included the modernization of aprons and taxiways for simultaneous operation of multiple aircraft, expansion of parking lots and access roads, and the implementation of state-of-the-art security systems. A notable component is a 3,803-panel photovoltaic park designed to increase the airport&#8217;s energy efficiency.   <\/p>\n<p>According to Sorin Manda, General Manager of Craiova International Airport, the investment marks a historic moment and represents a starting point for future development steps, aimed at expanding the network of destinations and strengthening its position as the main air hub in south-western Romania.
