Hotel groups such as Four Seasons, Waldorf Astoria, Aman, Bulgari and Capella are consolidating their presence with projects ranging from the transformation of historic palaces to the development of eco-friendly resorts in remote locations.

In Europe, the focus is on reviving glamor by repurposing iconic buildings. In London, London’s landmark Admiralty Arch will be transformed into the Waldorf Astoria hotel, with 100 rooms overlooking Buckingham Palace and restaurants by chefs Clare Smyth and Daniel Boulud, while wellness brand Six Senses will make its UK debut with the conversion of the city’s first universal store. In Venice, the legendary Hotel Danieli will be completely renovated under Four Seasons management, while Orient Express will open its second hotel in a 15th-century Gothic palace. In Italy, the trend continues with The Lake Como EDITION, a 19th-century palazzo reinterpreted in a minimalist style that will house chef Mauro Colagreco’s first restaurants in the country, and Palazzo Castelluccio in Sicily, a restored neoclassical palace. In Switzerland, The Park Gstaad, a historic 1910 hotel, will be reborn as a Four Seasons property.

At the same time, big brands are expanding their global footprint. Aman is opening Amanvari Amanvari in Baja California, Mexico, an 18-room resort offering access to a superyacht marina. Bulgari brings Italian style to the Maldives with a 53-villa resort, while Capella enters the Japanese market with a unit in Kyoto’s historic district featuring a spa with a private onsen. Four Seasons is expanding into Greece with a 94-room resort in Mykonos. In Tanzania, the Banyan Tree group launches its first safari resort, Ubuyu, with just six eco-friendly villas in Ruaha National Park. In Asia, Rosewood opens a 140-room hotel in the new Wangjiang district of Hangzhou, China, and The Langham opens a Bangkok unit around the historic 1888 Custom House building. In Latin America, Silversea is launching its first hotel, The Cormorant in Chile, the world’s southernmost hotel dedicated to passengers cruising to Antarctica, and St. Regis is opening a 158-room resort in Costa Mujeres, Cancun. The US market will be complemented by The Cooper in Charleston, the only luxury hotel on the harbor waterfront, and THE KNOX in Dallas, part of the Auberge Collection.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””]The global luxury hospitality market is gearing up for a wave of new openings in 2026, marked by two major trends: the restoration of landmark buildings in Europe and the expansion of top brands into exotic and exclusive destinations.
