[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””]The JW Marriott Bucharest Grand Hotel, one of the capital’s leading five-star hotels, has completed a modernization project worth about \u20ac4 million, marking the 25th anniversary of its opening. The investment is part of a wider strategy of the Marriott International group, which aims to significantly expand its presence on the Romanian market by the end of 2028. <\/p>\n

The renovation project at the JW Marriott covered a total area of about 4,600 square meters and took three months. The work covered conference and event areas, adjacent lobby spaces, the new Vienna Lounge and The Grand Avenue shopping gallery. The hotel’s 12 conference rooms were equipped with modern audiovisual technology, and the design was updated with marble panels and solutions to maximize natural light. The Timisoara and Galati lounges were equipped with movable walls, creating a unified space with a capacity of up to 140 people. The Vienna Lounge was reconfigured as a Viennese-inspired design space that functions as a specialty caf\u00e9 during the day and transforms into a Champagne & Caviar Bar in the evening. The design work was carried out by Istanbul-based Toner Architects. Ioan Maties, General Manager of the hotel, said that the objective is to consolidate the establishment’s position as a reference for luxury hospitality, gastronomy and events in Bucharest. The hotel, controlled by Austria’s Strabag Group, reported revenues for 2024 of 191 million lei, equivalent to about EUR37.58 million, up 9% from the previous year. <\/p>\n

In parallel, the Marriott International group has announced its expansion plans in Romania, which see the addition of five new properties and more than 550 rooms by the end of 2028. The strategy includes the introduction of two new brands in the local market: the Residence Inn by Marriott, aimed at extended stays, with a first unit planned in the Cosmopolis area of Bucharest, and Four Points by Sheraton, with an anticipated opening in Cluj-Napoca. The Courtyard by Marriott network, already present in Bucharest and Cluj-Napoca, will also expand with new hotels in Timi\u0219oara, Sibiu and C\u0103lim\u0103ne\u0219ti-C\u0103ciulata. Currently, Marriott’s operations in Romania include six properties with more than 1,380 rooms, under the JW Marriott, Sheraton, Autograph Collection, Moxy Hotels and Courtyard by Marriott brands.<\/p>\n[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
