Wizz Air is adjusting the timing of its withdrawal from the Vienna market, changing the final operating dates for routes to key Romanian airports. The decision, which effectively extends the operation of flights to Sibiu and Cluj-Napoca until the end of 2025 and the beginning of 2026, respectively, and keeps the route to Suceava active until next spring, redraws the map of air connections between the two countries. Wizz Air has set a new timetable for the closure of its direct routes between Vienna and Romania, as part of plans to cease operations from its base in the Austrian capital. According to the new decisions, flights between Vienna and Sibiu will end on October 24, 2025, while the last flight on the Vienna – Cluj-Napoca route is scheduled for January 11, 2026. This revised schedule is an extension of the original plan, which aimed to eliminate all connections to Sibiu, Cluj-Napoca and Suceava by mid-March 2025. As for the Vienna – Suceava route, it will resume on September 30, 2025, after a break, and will remain active until spring 2026. Following the withdrawal of Wizz Air, Sibiu International Airport will remain connected to Vienna only via flights operated by Austrian Airlines.
