The new terminal at Maramure\u0219 International Airport is almost completed. The degree of completion has reached about 98%. It has all the state-of-the-art facilities of a modern airport. <\/p>\n
The terminal will have a tunnel for passengers to board airplanes and four aircraft parking positions with self-maneuvering. Also, with the new terminal up and running, the airport will have a passenger throughput speed of 450 people per hour, which means that two large aircraft will be able to be served simultaneously. Given that in previous years, and this year, there have been situations where up to three airplanes have been processed simultaneously, and the number of passengers is increasing, the new terminal is all the more necessary. <\/p>\n
“We expect the work to be completed this fall towards the end. The new terminal, from a technical point of view, meets absolutely all the standards in the field, absolutely like any other modern airport in the world”, said Ionu\u021b Caraba – the airport’s development director. <\/p>\n
Another novelty is that the technology in the new terminal will even allow passengers to check-in (boarding) themselves, saving valuable time. The new terminal has a total floor area of just over 12,000 square meters and is designed on two levels, with escalators, elevators and 10 check-in counters with conveyor belts. It will feature state-of-the-art surveillance and security technology. It will also have generous passenger spaces, including restaurants and duty free shops.
