In Miercurea-Ciuc, in the Jigodin Baths area, a spectacular transformation is in the pipeline: a \u20ac56 million private investment will create a theme amusement park inspired by the medieval world of the 14th-15th centuries and Transylvania’s cultural heritage. <\/p>\n
The project involves the mayor of the municipality, Korodi Attila, the investor L\u00e9n\u00e1rd Andr\u00e1s and representatives of the Italian company Antonio Zamperla Spa – The Amusement Group, which is involved in the development of some of the world’s most famous amusement parks, including Disneyland and Universal.<\/p>\n
The concept of the park goes beyond the classical idea of entertainment and should be ready in 2027. According to the press release issued by the Miercurea-Ciuc City Hall, it is a project that aims to become \u201ca bridge between smiles, meetings and the presentation of the historical and cultural identity of the region\u201d. <\/p>\n
Investor L\u00e9n\u00e1rd Andr\u00e1s gave details of the vision behind the project. Although the name of the park has not yet been officially decided, options under discussion include \u201cDracula Park\u201d or \u201cTransylvanian Dracula Park\u201d. The choice of the name is motivated by the desire to create a strong brand, capable of attracting visitors beyond Romania’s borders. He explained that the central idea of the project is to build a fairy-tale world inspired by Transylvanian historical realities and legends: from King Matei Corvin and the myth of Dracula, to the Ottoman invasions and the Tartars, everything will be translated into a multi-sensory experience. <\/p>\n
Visitors will be able to explore themed villages – Saxon, Saxon and Romanian – as well as a Roma camp and an Ottoman siege camp. These spaces will be realized through authentic buildings and settings, complemented by amusement park attractions such as roller coasters, carousels, hall of mirrors and haunted castles. <\/p>\n
The first phase of the project, which involves a direct investment of \u20ac56 million, will be exclusively for the park itself. It will be built on a site where there is currently an industrial warehouse, which will be converted. <\/p>\n
Some 40 ancillary service units – from themed workshops and cafes to play areas and hot-air balloons – will be built around it. The project is already at the planning and permitting stage, with work due to start as soon as planning permission is obtained, expected next year. <\/p>\n
In the second phase, the park will be extended on land belonging to the S\u00e2ncr\u0103ieni Composesoratului, located in the immediate vicinity. Here, accommodation and a bear sanctuary will be built, a type of nature reserve that will serve as a shelter and observation center. <\/p>\n
The link between this area and the main park will be made by a cable car, which will give visitors a spectacular view of the animals from high above.<\/p>\n
The economic and social impact of the project is considerable. It is estimated that the park will generate 220 direct jobs and attract around 600,000 visitors annually. Mayor Korodi Attila Korodi emphasized the strategic importance of this investment for the development of local tourism, saying that Miercurea-Ciuc will no longer have problems with the number of tourist overnight stays for a long time. <\/p>\n
One of the most important assets of the project is the collaboration with the company Antonio Zamperla Spa – The Amusement Group, globally recognized for its contribution to the development of famous amusement parks, including in collaboration with industry giants such as Disney and Universal.
