Otopeni International Airport \u201cHenri Coand\u0103\u201d Otopeni will start construction work, after the authorities approved the modernization plan for the terminals of the country’s largest airport. The works will take two and a half years and the contract is worth 112.4 million RON, according to a statement. <\/p>\n
The works will be carried out in phases so that passenger flows are operational and passenger discomfort is acceptable. In the first phase, which will start on May 19, work will be carried out on the ground floor of the old Departures Terminal, as well as in the connecting body between Departures and Arrivals. <\/p>\n
The investment has four fundamental objectives to modernize the airport and increase the comfort offered to airport passengers.<\/p>\n
One of the objectives is to change and modernize the centralized ventilation-air conditioning system. The project involves the replacement of ventilation and air-conditioning equipment, the replacement of the equipment management server and the realization of a modern command, automatic control and data acquisition system. <\/p>\n
The works are also aimed at refurbishing the interior (finishes, floors, ceilings, signage, etc.), in order to improve the image quality of Romania’s most important airport.<\/p>\n
Another objective of the contract is the installation of a new fire detection and warning system.<\/p>\n
The airport’s electrical installations will also be upgraded. The project will modernize the lighting in the terminals and buildings by installing LED lighting fixtures, which will significantly reduce electricity consumption. The number of power sockets for passenger devices will also be increased. <\/p>\n
The estimated value of the design and technical assistance services amounts to approximately EUR 40 million. The deadline for submission of tenders is June 16, 2025. <\/p>\n
The main objective of this project is the realization of a new passenger terminal with all the necessary facilities, with an area of about 176.000 square meters, which will accommodate a traffic forecast for the year 2040 of 30 million passengers\/year, at peak passenger traffic in the new terminal will be able to reach 6.500 passengers\/hour.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
