The real estate developer AFI Europe has bought the Bucharest Financial Plaza office building, located in the central area of the capital, informally known as the “Bancorex Block”, from the Austrian group Immofinanz.
\nThe sale price was 27 mil.
\nEUR.
\nThe acquisition is part of AFI’s expansion plan in Romania, with the Israeli company’s portfolio now totaling more than 300,000 rentable square meters of office space.
\nRumors have circulated in the past that the building could be converted into a hotel.
\nThe Bucharest Financial Plaza is located at 15 Calea Victoriei, next to the CEC Palace, and has a total built area of 38,703 square meters (38,703 square meters), the first modern building constructed in the capital in the 1990s.
\n“Our objective is to transform this iconic property into a modern, Class A, mixed-use, Class A mixed-use project that meets the highest quality standards.
\nWe aim for a sustainable, ESG-compliant building that will become the ideal destination for work or leisure in the center of Bucharest,” said Doron Klein, Deputy CEO AFI Europe & CEO AFI Europe Romania and Czech Republic.
\nIn 2020, the company completed its first residential project on the local market – the first phase of AFI CITY BUUCURE\u0218TII NOI, which includes 190 fully sold apartments.
\nIn 2021, AFI acquired 2 plots of land in Pipera for the development of a new business division, Residential for Rent, by developing 3 residential towers and a total of 370 apartments.
\nThe first phase of the AFI HOME NORTH project is now under development, with a total of 244 apartments to be delivered in Q1 2025, arranged in 2 buildings.
