Cluj County Council has initiated extensive heritage rehabilitation projects in the county, aiming for total investments exceeding €28 million for the restoration of the Octavian Goga Castle in Ciucea and the Teleki Palace in Cluj-Napoca. The initiatives are part of a multi-year strategy dedicated to conserving heritage buildings and integrating them into an expanded regional tourism circuit.

According to statements by the President of the Cluj County Council, Alin Tișe, reported by Agerpres, the Octavian Goga museum complex in Ciucea benefits from two projects financed with European funds, whose value exceeds €15.23 million. The work commencement order has been issued, and the contractor is on site to organize the construction area, erect scaffolding, and set up climate-controlled modular facilities to protect historical assets. The first investment component, valued at €8.07 million with an execution timeframe of 32 months, includes the restoration of the Castle building, the Octavian Goga Mausoleum, the Ady Endre House and its annexes, the White House, the House on the Rock, the temporary mausoleum, the gate cabin, and the transformation of the Summer Theater into a reception pavilion. The second contract, valued at €7.05 million and financed through the North-West Regional Programme 2021–2027, targets the rehabilitation and conservation of the park and the complex’s enclosure. The county forum aims to replicate this model for other monuments managed by rural municipal authorities, building on the success achieved at the Răscruci Castle.

In parallel, the county administration approved the technical and economic indicators for the rehabilitation of Teleki Palace, a late Baroque architectural monument erected between 1790 and 1795 by architect Joseph Leder for Count Adam Teleki II. Located at 7 Mihail Kogălniceanu Street in Cluj-Napoca, the building will undergo functional repurposing through an investment of €12.85 million (VAT included). Cluj County’s contribution stands at €4.67 million, representing 36.34% of the costs, while the remaining funds will be allocated by Cluj-Napoca City Hall (37.01%) and other private co-owners (26.65%). The interventions include wall and floor consolidation, continuous foundations for the western annex, lift installation, facade, roof framework, and joinery restoration, alongside the complete replacement of heating, electrical, plumbing, and lighting systems. Upon completion of the works, the building—nationalized during communism and historically owned by the Roman Catholic Church—will once again serve as a branch of the Octavian Goga County Library, while also being integrated into the municipality’s tourist itinerary.
